Indigenous People to Accommodate Special Autonomy
Tribal leaders in Papua will accommodate special autonomy or popular as Otsus.
“The Bill 21/2001 on Otsus for Papua and West Papua provinces is a real form of recognition and respect to Papuan cultural and values. We will promote indigenous people’s rights and dignity,” Tribal Leader Ramses Ohee told the press in Jayapura recently.
Unfortunately, the bill has not been implemented properly. And, there is no evaluation on the implementation then.
“We will fight for the Papuan indigenous people interests which are not accommodated in Otsus yet.”
They are collecting, identifying and finding solution to the problem faced by local and central government.
Regarding to this situation, Papuan tribal leaders ask Papua provincial government as well as the central government to set a comprehensive evaluation on the implementation of Otsus.
They also ask Papua and West Papua provincial governments to implement Otsus properly and consistently for the Papuans.
