Special autonomy helps small community

JAYAPURA, wartaplus.com – Regarding the pros and cons of extending the Papua Special Autonomy program, religious leaders have also raised their voices for the welfare of the Papuan people.

This time the support for the continuation of the Special Autonomy program volume II was voiced by Pastor Welly Wengkang, from Kota Baru Urban Village, Abepura District, Jayapura City.

“The special autonomy program (Otsus) really helps the small community in meeting their daily needs,” he said, Wednesday (14/10).

Pastor Welly admitted that so far various kinds of assistance have gone directly to the community to the villages. It’s all for the welfare of the Papuan people. Although this assistance has not been able to fully meet the needs of the community.

“For people who do not agree with the continuation of the Otsus program, it is better to keep quiet. The fact is that they also enjoy the results,” he said.

According to him, the Otsus program, which will end in 2021, has been very beneficial in development in Papua.

“If the Otsus program stops, the economy in Papua will become increasingly difficult and the small community will become victims,” he said.

“Let us together support the government’s Otsus program, so that we can live independently like people outside Papua in general,” he asked. (Adv)
