Jayapura (ANTARA) – The management of the Regional Public Service Agency for the Regional General Hospital (BLUD RSUD) of Nabire Regency, Papua Province has added space for the handling and treatment of patients who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the region.

“We have prepared two treatment rooms for COVID-19 patients, namely a male internal room and a TB pulmonary treatment room for COVID-19 treatment with 19 beds,” said the Secretary of BLUD Nabire Hospital, Stefen Mareku when confirmed from Jayapura, Tuesday.

According to him, the 19 beds that were prepared were already in use and were full and now his party had started using VIP rooms, classrooms and also other rooms that were also being used to treat COVID-19 patients.

“Some of these rooms have to be opened and used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients because Nabire Hospital is one of the referral hospitals for corona virus patients, and indeed only one hospital is quite good in Nabire,” he said.

He continued, thus willing and unwilling to have to open to service patients suffering from other diseases but also patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

He said, the treatment room that was opened was regulated in accordance with national standards or those in the handling procedure for COVID-19.

Regarding the ward / bed, he said, until now it is still sufficient because his party uses the old or used ward because it has been completely renovated so that it can be used.

In fact, he added, specifically for the Nabire Regional Hospital, there was already a treatment room that was initially prepared for special care for handling COVID-19 patients, before the corona virus outbreak entered Indonesia and spread throughout the region.

“The certificate (SK) for the COVID-19 team at Nabire Hospital has been in since January 2020, before the corona virus broke out in Papua,” he said.

This formation was carried out to anticipate COVID-19 if it was real, but it was also true, the corona virus began to spread and entered Papua in March.
