Soldiers offer mobile health service to Papuans in Tembagapura

Tembagapura, Papua (ANTARA) – Several personnel from the 756/WMS Infantry Battalion’s security task force offered a mobile health service to people residing in Beanekogom Village, Tembagapura Sub-district, Mimika District, Papua Province.

The health service is routinely conducted as part of the task force’s community services to ensure that locals are in good health, the task force’s commander, Major Marolop Edison Bala Hutapea, stated here on Friday.

“The TNI (the Indonesian Military) is mindful of the difficulties faced by the residents,” he remarked, adding that he had constantly reminded the soldiers stationed at all security posts to maintain an emotional connect with the locals.

Sincerity in conducting community services and tending to the needs of local communities would make the TNI security posts useful to them, according to Hutapea.

Tsinga security post’s commanding officer, Second Lieutenant Riyanto, led the mobile health service for the residents of Beanekogom Village.

Riyanto revealed that the task force’s medical team members tended to the villagers ailing from minor illnesses and looking for medical consultation service.

Abdon Nenotek expressed gratitude to the task force and commended the members for offering the mobile health service to him and other villagers and for edifying them on ways to lead a healthy life and maintain cleanliness in the village.

ANTARA had reported on Indonesian soldiers deployed in Papua that were helping locals through community services, such as voluntary teaching, serving mobile library, and street cleanup programs.

Personnel of the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea Border Security Task Force in Mosso Village, recently initiated a street cleanup program in the village of Muara Tami Sub-district, Jayapura City.

Along with the villagers of Mosso, several members of the task force cleared dirt and debris from the village’s streets.

The soldiers, who participated in the community service, belonged to the Army Strategic Reserves Command’s (Kostrad’s) Raider 413 Mechanic Infantry Battalion, according to the task force’s commander, Major Anggun Wuriyanto.

The residents were enthusiastic to partake in the street cleanup program, he stated.

“We are optimistic that the street cleaning activity would become a routine program to keep Mosso village clean and healthy,” he stated.

Wuriyanto then called on the village’s youth to lead efforts to keep their village clean, healthy, and secure.
