Religious leaders deplore the Violence
TIMIKA – Terror action carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Puncak district is still not over. On Sunday (25/4) the Head of Papua Regional Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Mayjen Posthumous TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha died in a shootout in the Dambet village, Beoga Sub-District, Puncak Regency. Violence perpetrated by this groups which ideologically opposed to Indonesia has also drawn a lot of criticism.
Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Protestant Church – Klasis GPI Papua Mimika, Pastor Ferdinans C Hukubun also regretted the KKB action which not only killed TNI soldiers, but also have sacrificed civilians and damaged public facilities and people’s homes.
“I really regret what has been done (by KKB, red). Because that action is so inhuman,” said Rev. Hukubun.
Because of that, he continued, he hoped that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Police (Polri) and the government would immediately enforce of the rule of law. This needs to be done in order to provide education for all Indonesian citizens.
“Upholding the rule of law is also a correction, that people who violate the law must accept the consequences of their actions,” he said. Law enforcement against the KKB according to Pdt Hukubun, is also a form of the principle of social justice for the community because the victims here are not only law enforcers, but also civil society. Even the people who are victims of this are those who are actually live in Papua, especially in Puncak Regency, to educate the children of the Papuan generation who will build their own ancestral lands in the future.
Pdt Hukubun also invites and urges all citizens, especially those who live in Papua, to jointly fight crime and protect the land of Papua so that it is always safe and peaceful.
“In accordance with the philosophy, Papeda, Papua is full of peace. Let us all protect the land of Papua which we love,” he asked.
He invites people to live in love and peace in the land of Papua as a blessing from God, and to make differences within the framework of the Republic of Indonesia, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
Regarding the victims of Kabinda of Papua, Rev. Hukubun said that the deceased was someone who loved Papua, and he too is loved by the people of Papua. However, irresponsible groups have tarnished and damaged the image of the Papuan people.
“As a religious leader, I would like to express my deep condolences. Hopefully his acts of worship will be accepted by God and the family he has left will be given courage, “he said.
As is known, a series of acts of terror was carried out by KKB on Thursday (8/4) with the victim being a teacher, Oktovianus Rayo. Afterwards, on Friday (9/4) the KKB to shoot a teacher dead named Yonatan Randen. An ojek driver named Udin also did not escape the KKB target, who was shot dead on Wednesday (14/4).
And only a day later, Thursday (15/4) KKB shot another civilian who was still a high school student named Ali Mom. Then on Sunday (25/4) Kabinda Papua, Major General Posthumous TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Karya Nugraha also died as a result of the KKB action.
Most recently, a shootout in Mayuberi Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Tuesday (27/4) at around 08.00 East Indonesian Time, killed a member of the National Police named Bharada I Komang Wira Natha and injured two of his colleagues. Meanwhile from the KKB there are also suspected victims.
Apart from the casualties, the KKB also burnt the school buildings and houses belonging to the residents, so that their action received criticism from various parties. (Rdr)
