The New Special Autonomy Law is Considered a Hope for Better Development in Papua
JAYAPURA, iNews.id – The new Special Autonomy Law (Otsus) is considered to give new hope for development in Papua and West Papua. Because the best sons and daughters can participate and contribute to the region.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said that Law No. 2 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy enforces the appointment of members of the district and city DPRD, as well as members of the provincial DPRD.
“With this policy, it is hoped that the best Papuan sons and daughters can make the best contribution to Papua’s development,” said Muhaimin in his statement, Tuesday (31/8/2021).
In addition, the extraordinary achievement of the struggle for the new Special Autonomy Law is the increase in the National General Allocation Fund for Papua to 2.25 percent from the previous 2 percent.
The new Special Autonomy Law will contain seven government regulations. While in the old one, there was only one PP related to the cultural institution of indigenous Papuans, namely the Papuan People’s Council.
Regarding the formation of the PP as a derivative of the Special Autonomy Law, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, previously reported to the Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin, at least two PPs.
Spokesperson for the vice president, Masduki Baidlowi, said the two PPs were related to Papuan indigenous institutions and financial management.
