Ground Breaking Papua Youth Creative Hub, Jokowi: This is the Future of Papua
Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a ground breaking for the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PMI) building. This building will be used as a driving force to develop the talents of Papuan youth. The construction of the building for PMI is planned to be completed on October 11, 2022, which is located on Jalan Poros, Abepura District, Jayapura, Papua.
“We want to provide as much space as possible after I met with the PMI community. Then there was the idea of making a Papua Youth Creative Hub in this place based on field directions, field inputs obtained from the Head of BIN,” said Jokowi in his remarks, Saturday (2/10/2021).
“That there are not only hundreds of people gathered in Inspirational Papua, but thousands, is very good, so we hope that in the future the Papua Youth Creative Hub can become a driving force, become a center for developing great talents in Papua, and become a creative center for young Papuan people. in strengthening the existing innovation system,” he continued.
Jokowi said the construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub is expected to explore the creative potential of Papuan youth. Jokowi believes that the potential of young people is still a lot and needs a place to be released.
“I believe there is still a lot of unexplored and undeveloped potential. That is our task, both in Papua and West Papua, there are many excellent seeds and excellent talents in the fields of science, culture, and sports. And this has become It’s our big task to prepare good and organized talent management,” he said.
Jokowi said that in this building there would be a bright future for creating the talents of young Papuan people. Starting from entrepreneurship, millennial farmers, to Papuan youths who have talent in the field of digitalization.
“Here, we will take care of entrepreneurship, millennial farmers who will be raised, then related to building a digital ecosystem, research, and developed innovation. I think this is the future for all of us, the future of Indonesia, the future of Papua is in the Papua Youth Creative Hub , he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) General Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan said the Papua Youth Creative Hub building would refer to buildings identical to Papuan land. Budi Gunawan said that this building will accommodate all the talents of Papuan and West Papuan children in developing their creativity.
“This building will later be managed professionally by the sons of the Papua region and will receive assistance and assistance, both technical and practical, from ministry agencies and similar institutions from stakeholders so that it is professionally and financially sustainable,” he explained.
Budi Gunawan added that the construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub building is also a new history as well as a pioneer of progress for the Papuan youth generation.
“This ground breaking is a milestone, a unifying symbol as well as a pioneer of progress for the Papuan youth generation to exploit the talents of young people who have been developed in seven Papuan traditional areas, which currently have 2,025 members in Papua and West Papua Provinces,” explained Budi Gunawan.
On this occasion, Budi Gunawan expressed his gratitude for President Jokowi’s concern for Papuan youth. Budi Gunawan believes that the existence of the Papua Youth Creative Hub will change the face of a more manly Papuan with a myriad of extraordinary talents.
“This will all change the face of Papua, which of course involves the welfare of Papua in the future with the slogan Torang Pasti Bisa, which means embracing all young people, showing that young people can be equal to their brothers and sisters,” he concluded.
The Papua Youth Creative Hub or Papua Muda Inspirasi has 2,025 members. This has developed since the first time in 2019 when he met President Jokowi, there were 21 people.
The construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub building will involve the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) at a cost of Rp. 95 billion and is targeted to be completed in October 2022.
Also present were DPR RI Speaker Puan Maharani, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia.
