Solomons Acknowledge Papua as part of Indonesia

“Our government recognizes Papua province as part of the Republic of Indonesia,” the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, Mr. George Hiek told Papua Province Secretary, Elia Loupatty.

The government of the Solomon Islands recognize Papua as part of Indonesia. Therefore, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands, Mr. George Hiek said that his government regretted the existence of Papuan separatist groups or OPM in Papua.

Mr. George Hiek’s visit to Papua was to explore the possibilities for cooperation in education and to study the border management.

He is especially interested in the border cooperation between PNG and Indonesia, which benefiting peoples who live around the border.

In his visit, Mr. Hiek also discussed the student exchange program between Solomon Islands and Indonesia, particularly Papua.

  1. It seems like Mr Heik doesn’t know any thing aboutthe West Papua history.He is only interested in his political career.
    West papua is NOT a part of INDONESIA we are MELANESIAN people by flesh and blood.We will fight for our rights for FREEDOM.
