Rectifying injustice in West Papua
I wrote this article on Injustice in West Papua around 8 years ago.
I want to share my personal feeling while writing articles in my blog. My first impression is there are so many hatred and threat to me, not only from Papuan separatist groups but also from Indonesia (possibly military). I have a thesis: perpetual conflict will only exist as long as there is no communication, and I can say that there is no real communication between Indonesian government and Papua separatist movement for more than 40 years.
Yes, my blog might lost credibility long time ago when I intentionally made an experiment of attacking Free West Papua Campaign in UK, the result is hundreds hatred, insulting and threatening emails and comments came to me, and I am willing to read all hours and hours.
Yes, my blog might became a serious problem for Indonesian security (military, police and intelligence) when I try to write more balance articles by criticizing Indonesian military and honestly I am quite afraid.
However, I am happy and dare to say that I am successfully communicate with both sides and I am sorry that I have to write something evil that might not be right in order to take your attention.
Sadly, I have a temporal conclusion that the future of Papua will never in favour to ordinary Papuans if there is no constructive communication to deal with the problems. Injustice in West Papua is a propaganda, which unfortunately to some extent supported by some incidents in the region.
I have watched closely the Free West Papua Campaign in UK as one of the important elements. Several months ago I visited UK and I have met Benny Wenda’s families and I could say that Benny has the potential to become one of the discussants for the future of Papua. However I am worry that Benny doesn’t have pure intention of solving the problems in Papua. He has the right to dream and to speak about independence, but will he listen to the voice of other Papuan leaders in favour to the special autonomy for Papua? Democracy should defend other rights to speak even if it is against our opinion right?
I have watch closely the performance of Indonesian decision makers on Papua. I would tend to agree that we are still waiting for a comprehensive solution which will recognize all problems and rectify the past injustice. Unfortunately, special autonomy is the only answers which is not recognize the separatist ideas at all cost.
In short I would like to show a formula as follows:
Papua Independence + Territorial Integrity of Indonesia = Perpetual Conflict
It is impossible for Indonesia to let Papua Free.
It is impossible for Free Papua Movement to surrender.
So it is also impossible for ending the conflict.
Is that what we really want ?
So, are we gonna watch further conflict? Or are we gonna rectify our own mistakes and start to talk about peace?
We could defend our position, our opinion, and our rights until we die, but where is the wisdom for the people?
We could rely on our brilliant strategy to win the war, but on top of that how many people should die in the name of our dream?
All those questions are applied to Indonesian Security, Free Papua Movement, all Western advisors and academics who work behind (support) the Free West Papua Movement, all Indonesian academics who work for the peace process for Papua.

This Blog has gone through many obstacles and attacks from violent Free West Papua separatist supporters and ultra nationalist Indonesian since 2007. However, it has remained throughout a time devouring thoughts of how to bring peace to Papua and West Papua provinces of Indonesia.
