Asmat local government opens flights after becoming a green zone (Covid-19 free zone)

Jayapura (ANTARA) – The Asmat Local Government has now reopened flights to and from Ewer, since the new normal implementation and the area was declared a COVID-19 green zone.

It is true that currently flights from both Timika and Merauke to Ewer and vice versa have returned to normal, Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu told Antara on Thursday.

The Regent of Kambu who was contacted from Jayapura said that although the flight had opened, but the transport of ships served by PT. Pelni has not yet operated.

Even so, it did not have much impact because the community used more motorboats or speed boats when going to Timika with a travel time of around five hours.

For food supplies, said Kambu, there is no problem because the sea toll continues to operate and the community routinely supplies from Timika or other regions.

When asked about the local government’s efforts to maintain the COVID-19 green zone, the Kambu Regent stated that the task force team continued to try to provide the community with understanding of the dangers and how to prevent them.

“Praise the Lord, until now there have not been Asmat Regency residents who are positive COVID-19,” said the Regent of Kambu. *
