The Jayawijaya Regency Government supports the continuation of Presidential Instruction No.9 of 2017 on Papua
Wamena (ANTARA) – The Jayawijaya Regency Government of Papua Province supports the central government’s policy regarding the continuation of Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2017 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua and West Papua.
Jayawijaya Regent Jhon Richard Banua in Hubikosi District, Wednesday, said that Presidential Instruction No.9 of 2017 was successfully implemented in the Jayawijaya community.
“We are regional governments, for development based on a community approach is very important. If we work without an approach to the community, it is not government,” he said.
Jhon said that the development based on the welfare approach has so far been applied to the people of 40 districts in his region.
“We have taken such an approach. For example, we motivate the community to plant, then they invite us to harvest crops, we buy the garden products and give them to support them to open new land again,” he said.
The former Deputy Regent of Jayawijaya for these two periods ensures that all development programs in Jayawijaya are directly from the community.
“So far, we go directly to the villages, accept the aspirations of the community, we see the needs and then program it so that it will directly touch them properly,” he said.
Previously, the central government through the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam) was drafting a further draft of Presidential Instruction No.9 of 2017 concerning the acceleration of the development of Papua and West Papua.
The two development plots are divided in terms of welfare development to the economy under the command of the National Development Planning Agency.
The second plot concerns national defense and security or the general development section (desk) under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.
