Jayawijaya female activist hope that Papua’s special autonomy will continue
Papua’s special autonomy will continue is not an empty statement because majority Papuan support the continuation of special autonomy.
Wamena (ANTARA) – A woman leader in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, Yosepina Kossy hopes that the special autonomy policy (Otsus) given by the central government to Papua will continue to increase development in eastern Indonesia
Yosepina Kossy in Jayawijaya, Thursday, said the Otsus program for Papua was very good for people in a number of sectors.
“We see Special Autonomy in the community, especially in Jayawijaya, that we have felt the positive impact,” he said.
He said the obstacle that caused the pros and cons of the special autonomy program was a lack of supervision and this needed to be improved.
“Supervision is very important for society so that it is not misused and we know that Special Autonomy is good for us,” he said.
As part of a pioneer family that received the first phase of Papua’s Otsus, he hopes that the policy will not stop because it still touches the needs of the people.
Previously, the Regent of Jayawijaya, Jhon Richard Banua, who was still the deputy regent at that time, said that the use of Otsus funds in Jayawijaya was divided into three sectors, namely health, education and community welfare.
“The special autonomy funds for Jayawijaya are fully realized for the community, none of which are used for physical development,” he said.
The first phase of the Papua Special Autonomy Policy has been in effect for 20 years from 2001 and will end in 2021.

This Blog has gone through many obstacles and attacks from violent Free West Papua separatist supporters and ultra nationalist Indonesian since 2007. However, it has remained throughout a time devouring thoughts of how to bring peace to Papua and West Papua provinces of Indonesia.
Great, we all hope that Papua’s special autonomy will continue. Keep the good work !
Small correction:
The first phase of the Papua Special Autonomy Policy has been in effect for 20 years from 2001 and will continue in 2021. There is no reason for ending special autonomy, because the law has no time limit. What actually happen is about special autonomy fund, which will end next year.
Thank you
