Jayapura (ANTARA) – The Jayapura City Industry and Trade Cooperative (Disperindagkop) and UKM are currently working on a noken shop / showcase gallery for all noken craftsmen in the local city

The head of the Coop Trade Industry Service (Disperindagkop) and UKM Kota Jayapura, Robert L. N. Awi in Jayapura Tuesday, said that a showcase gallery for all noken craftsmen in Jayapura City, the gallery had been proposed through the allocation of special autonomy funds.

“The location of the gallery is planned to be next to the Jayapura City Civil Service Police Unit (Sapol PP). The gallery is specifically for all noken craftsmen in Jayapura City, with a place to market the noken,” he said.

For guidance for noken craftsmen, according to Robert, his party has been carried out since 2015. Every year he provides assistance and then provides assistance to noken craftsmen in Jayapura City.

In addition, he said, his party also provides training for women who are noken craftsmen but also for all other noken craftsmen in this city to develop their creativity in knitting noken.

He added, ahead of the XX PON which will be held in 2021, his party continues to strive to encourage the development of noken creativity. That way, athletes and coaches as well as those who come to Jayapura City for PON activities will come home with noken.

The Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tomi Mano, said that his party will continue to strive for a special place for women who are noken craftsmen so that they can sell their work properly, in a proper place.
