Wamena (ANTARA) – Police personnel of the Tolikara Resort, Papua Regional Police, are holding a mobile library (perling) to serve students who are not reached by internet services while learning is hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two personnel from the Bhabinkamtibmas of the Tolikara Police who routinely reach underdeveloped areas through the perling are Brigadier Rambo D. Womsiwor and Bripda Derek Letlora.
“We feel sorry for our younger siblings in the interior of Papua, especially Tolikara, who has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so learning has been reduced, even through online lessons, because there is no strong internet signal,” said Bripda Derek in a press release. received by Antara in Wamena, Thursday.
Bripda Derek said it was scheduled for every Wednesday, he and his colleagues visited the children with perling.
“Yesterday (Wednesday, 28/10) we visited Kolengger Village and the children’s enthusiasm was very good for learning,” he said.
Brigadier Rambo Womsiwor said that before the reading and writing lessons were held, they motivated children regarding the prevention measures for COVID-19 which is currently endemic in the country.
“I hope that the knowledge we provide to these younger siblings can serve as guidance in the future in making the name of the Indonesian nation proud, as well as being able to make both parents proud,” he said.
The two policemen said they were proud of a number of children they visited because even though some of them still had difficulty recognizing letters, they had high enthusiasm for learning.
Based on Antara’s observation, online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Tolikara Regency is very difficult to do due to limited internet access. The difficulty of learning online has almost occurred in approximately eight districts in the Central highlands of Papua.
