Simultaneous regional elections in Papua

Wamena (ANTARA) – Kapolres Yalimo, Polda Papua AKBP Rachad Kaharuddin confirmed that the situation ahead of the 9 December 2020 simultaneous regional head elections in the district is still conducive.

AKBP Rachad Kaharuddin in Elelim, Thursday, said that joint police and TNI personnel had been alerted to support the realization of security and comfort at the people’s party.

“For the situation so far is safe, conducive, and there are no disturbing things in the implementation of the pilkada,” he said.

He said that in the second round of debates held in Yalimo, 133 joint personnel were alerted at the DPRD building or debate venue and at several points.

“This joint personnel consists of 60 TNI, 10 from Brimob, 63 from the police, all of which we are alerting at several points for this security activity,” he said.

He said that even though the second round of debates had been delayed because the two candidates did not attend at the appointed time, the situation was still conducive.

“For security activities, the plan is that the activities will start at 15: 00WIT, but until approximately 15:30 the two candidates have not shown any signs of attending,” he said.

The debate on the second candidate was the first to be held in Yalimo Regency, because in the first round of debates it was held in Jayapura City. The organization has not yet decided on the location of the third round of debate.
