JAYAPURA, KOMPAS.com – The Free West Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is acting up again in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. This time their victim was a pastor named Jeremiah Zanambani. “The incident occurred in Hitadipa Village, Hitadipa District, Intan Jaya, on Saturday (19/9/2020) at around 18.00 WIT,” said Kapen Kogabwihan III, Col. Czi IGN Suriastawa, via a release on Sunday (20/9/2020).

Pastor Yeremia Zanambani is a native of the Moni Tribe who also played a role in making the translation of the Bible into the Moni language.

Suriaswata emphasized that what the KKB did in Intan Jaya was none other than to seek international attention ahead of the UN general session on September 22-29 2020. “As I said yesterday, they are looking for a moment to attract attention at the UN General Assembly at the end of this month, ” he said. He also criticized the KKB’s actions which also spread slander through social media by accusing the TNI of the murder of Pastor Yeremias Zarambanin.

According to him, what the KKB had done was very disturbing to the community. “From this morning, their three accounts started spreading fake news by distorting the facts. Their slander on social media, it is clear that the settings and engineering were to incite the public as well as corner the TNI / Polri and the government ahead of the UN general session,” said Suriaswata.

With this incident, in the past week, KKB has been acting up four times at Intan Jaya. Before the murder of Pastor Yeremias Zanambani, the KKB atrocities in Intan Jaya this week began on Monday (14/9/2020).

Three days later, the KKB returned to action in Bilogai Village, Sugapa District and resulted in the deaths of Serka Sahlan and a civilian, Bahdawi. Finally, Babinsa Koramil Hitadipa Preparation, Pratu Dwi Akbar Utomo died after suffering a gunshot wound.
