Jayapura (ANTARA) – The Papua Province Education, Library and Regional Archives Office hopes that the reading hobby of school-age children will continue to be increased, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Head of the Papua Province Education, Library and Regional Archives Office Christian Sohilait in Jayapura, Tuesday, said that especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, children must learn from home online.

“However, not all in Papua can study at home online, this is because the internet network is inadequate,” he said.

According to Christian, for this reason, his party will donate reading books in places made for people to read.

“From the results of a working visit to the Yoboi Village, Jayapura Regency, it turns out that there is a reading garden built by the residents and this must be supported,” he said.

He explained that his party was ready to provide several needs for residents, for example 50 additional children’s books, television, masks, and reading books for parents.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we also continue to remind the managers of this reading house to pay attention to health protocols,” he said again.

He added that in addition to helping reading books, his party also plans to donate around 200 masks so that children can use them while reading.
