Timika (ANTARA) – The management of PT PLN (Persero) UP3 Timika, Papua continues the electricity program to enter a number of areas in coastal areas and other inland areas so that local residents can immediately enjoy electric lighting.

Manager of PLN UP3 Timika Marthinus Irianto Pasensi in Timika, Sunday, said the program to electrify inland areas included in the ‘Bright Papua’ program continues even though it is currently facing a COVID-19 pandemic situation.

“The program must continue. This year the most PLN UP3 Timika are in the Asmat and Yahukimo areas. Meanwhile, in the Mimika area, they are in Kampung Amar, Potowayburu, Aindua, Uta, Jita (Sempan),” he explained.

According to him, in some of these villages, electricity network construction has been built. The plan is for the villages to build electricity networks using solar power.

The construction of the electricity network construction refers to the results of a survey conducted in 2019.

Regarding the operation of PLTD Kokonao and Agimuga, each with a capacity of 100 KW, Marthinus said that until now the two power plant engines had not been brought to Kokonao and Agimuga.

“Until now, the engine is still in PLN Timika. We are still waiting for a decision from PLN for Papua and West Papua because this will certainly affect the budget,” he explained.

According to him, if the PLTD in the two district capitals (sub-districts) is operated this year, PLN Timika must review the Annual Operation Plan (ROT), where one of the components that must be calculated is the availability of diesel fuel (BBM), is it sufficient to meet the requirements. needs until the end of this year.

“If we have to set aside fuel to run PLTD Kokonao and PLTD Agimuga, then we have to consider whether the fuel for electric lighting needs in Timika City is sufficient or not until December. Because once the ROT has been set for one year, we cannot. apply for more additions in the middle of the year, “explained Marthinus.

With such conditions, he said, PLN is currently directed to no longer rely on diesel generators that consume fuel, but instead switch to renewable energy sources such as water, wind, solar power and others.
