The Ascension

Every year, majority West Papuan celebrate the Ascension of the Lord as an opportunity not only to focus on heaven, where the Lord Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us (John 14:1-6) and on the joy that “eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor the human heart conceived,” which “God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9; Is 64:4), but also on the implications Jesus’ return to the Father means for each of his followers.

The Ascension

Ascension Day is an important holy day to many Christians around the world, including in Indonesia and especially in Papua and West Papua.

It dates back more than a thousand years, and marks the day the resurrected Jesus returns to heaven after 40 days back on Earth.

On this Ascension Day, It gives me great joy to tell you that the ascension of Jesus was his way to make us understand that the Lord exists.
