Benny Wenda Gives a pack of lies to Catholic peace and Justice group in Liverpool.
Nov 24, 2008
I will support Benny Wenda if Indonesia still held the military and autocratic New Order system. But since 1998, a big change happened in Indonesia and all Indonesian can speak freely and openly to the world about everything. Indonesian press is also one of the freest in the world today. My only reaction to Benny Wenda campaign in UK is that please stop telling lies to British people. I will suggest Benny Wenda to go home and see the development in Papua by his own eyes.
For about 36 Years, West Papuan voice never hear outside world because West Papuan People are under the Military Control and we describe that Papuan People almost like in the prison because every were is Military. Most of Indonesian share similar situation from Aceh Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Sulawesi, Bali, Maluku to Papua. Militaristic approach was everywhere. However, today is totally different. Papuan now can express their feeling even in the central of Jakarta, for example the picture of Papuan demonstrator below is taken in the heart of Jakarta:
Benny Wenda gave a pack of lies about bringing West Papuan crying for justice to British people.
Benny said that West Papuan are live under the military occupation. West Papuan people are not free, but they are under the military control and Indonesia Police and Military always intimidate the West Papuan people. What a lies? However I do understand why Benny should keep telling lies to British people, because as an asylum seeker he should maintain his status so British people who pay the tax will still supporting him regardless every lies that he spread in UK.
I feel sorry for the British people who are not aware about the reality in Papua. I recommend to all British people to visit Indonesian Embassy in London to have a cross check about Papua. I believe in the cleverness of British people, hopefully British people will not buy any lies that Benny said. Please visit Papua and see the huge different with what Benny said. Before that, you might like to ask Indonesian Embassy in London to explain more about Papua.
Here is a picture from my friend in Liverpool:

This Blog has gone through many obstacles and attacks from violent Free West Papua separatist supporters and ultra nationalist Indonesian since 2007. However, it has remained throughout a time devouring thoughts of how to bring peace to Papua and West Papua provinces of Indonesia.
Nice one for not leaving a name, surely not something someone who champions reliability and verifiability of facts. As it happens, we did indeed visit Papua, and although we didn’t get shot at ourselves or see any atrocities ourselves (fairly prudent of a government aware of every movement foreigners make on their land) we did hear on the highest possible reliable authorities, as well as from countless Papuans that these sorts of things do, and did, go on.
Although it is true that Papua is a fairly safe and (less so) stable country which is now mainly occupied by a transmigrant/Papuan mix however to claim that now the situation is fine because the bullies won and we’re now half a century down the line isn’t moral or even correct.
We have seen pictures provided to us by the TPN that can verify their claims, as well as heard from respectable professionals, locals, government leaders and the ‘freedom fighters’, and fully agree with most of the conclusions and facts presented by the OPM. We have met with the attorney of 11 held in Manokwari for peaceful protest (only declining a meeting with the men themselves as we couldn’t come up with a good enough excuse for the police as to why two whites without papers suddenly wanted to come and see ‘independence fighters’)
This subject forms the basis for a BA thesis, as well as a newspaper article and has been well researched, as opposed to your anonymous and illiterate post. Should you want to view the reasoning and basis for our conclusions, please visit the website where everything is kept for reference. Yes, the British people have the ability to be clever, however if you claim Benny is lying, it could be just as easily claimed that the Indonesians are lying. I concede that Papua has indeed improved in many ways in the last several decades however our research found that violence and oppression are continuing, just less frequently and more remotely (making them less traceable as Papua moves onto the world map). It is not sufficient to say simply these things are not occuring any more therefore Mr. Wenda is lying. Mr. Wenda speaks frequently with his father and so has a pretty sound idea about what is going on in the Country.
We have presented our side of the argument (along with all evidence to go along with it), so whenever you’re ready to back up your stories, we’re all ears.
