Show Support for West Papua Indonesia

The position of the United Nations and countries around the world on West Papua has been very firm in support to the referendum in 1969. Perhaps only Vanuatu supports the Free West Papua separatist cause.

World leaders from have repeated many times that Indonesia is a democracy with a decentralised government. Indonesia allows its citizens to express their will democratically. The only exceptions of will are advocating communism, radicalism and separation from the rest of the country.

The forgotten victims of conflict in West Papua are the West Papuans themselves, who for the most part – want to remain Indonesian. Unfortunately, they are being used as pawns by their Free West Papua opportunists. A democratic local government of Papua and West Papua with the goal of becoming a democratic, autonomous provinces is widely accepted by all population in both provinces.

On September 2017, The UN’s decolonisation committee clearly rejected a fake petition calling for West Papua independence, saying West Papua’s cause is outside the committee’s mandate.

ABC reported from New York, the chairman of the committee said no petition had been received and the report, which first appeared in The Guardian newspaper, was a manipulation.

“Some people are trying to use me and trying to manipulate or whatever,” Rafael Ramirez also said: “I’m concerned because some people are trying to use me as propaganda.”

Mr Ramirez said West Papua was not on the agenda for the committee and it had a very good and strong relationship with Indonesia.

“Indonesia is a very good friend of ours,” he said.
