West Papua public enemy number one: separatism, terrorism, and Covid-19

West Papua was formally transferred from the Netherlands to Indonesia on May 1, 1963.

Benny Wenda keep on saying West Papua is his country, but he ran away from West Papua after leading a violent demonstration. The day of power transfer from the Dutch to Indonesia was part of decolonization process which later followed by a fair referendum, known also as the Act of Free Choice in 1969. West Papuan never forget this important day, the beginning of freedom from the Dutch.

Benny Wenda often quotes the same narrative of half a million of West Papuan have died since 1963. The over exaggerated provocation by Benny Wenda has only one purpose, to maintain conflict in West Papua. The fact that more than 2 million West Papuan live peacefully and enjoy economic development is never recognized by Benny Wenda. He can’t see West Papua with clear mind.

Benny Wenda, also claims the unification of political and military wing of violent separatist group under the United Liberation Movement for West Papua. He uses a simple hoax to guarantee his position and global donations collector. When Mr. Wenda said We have ONE spirit, ONE mission, ONE destiny, he actually think that ONE campaign is for his own benefit and not for member groups within his control. The unity of Melanesian Indonesian is much stronger than any group in West Papua, and Benny Wenda knows it.

Benny Wenda has chosen the peaceful campaign to hide the violent strategy of killing innocent people in West Papua. West Papua Blog calls on all elements of violent separatist group under Mr. Wenda leadership to choose a better path of peaceful solution to end the conflict by immediately stopping at least two things: (1) Stop violent provocation and (2) Stop killing innocent people in West Papua. We will help if Mr. Wenda would like to repent and comeback to West Papua.

Wenda’s controlled separatists groups remain poorly disciplined and often push violent agenda. Historically, Mr. Wenda always priorities his own loyal followers like Oridek Ap, Serogo Tabuni and several young activists from KNPB. Personal loyalties to individual commanders will likely to continue locally, so the armed factions operating in the jungle areas may clash each other. They will also prioritise the prosperity of their groups will never recognized the leadership of Benny Wenda.   

Finally to be inline with the title, I would like to say the danger of separatism, terrorism and Covid-19 is somehow very similar. Separatism and terrorism are two dangerous ideas or ideologies that can kill innocent people when it materialize in violent action. Similarly, the Covid-19 that we can’t see with our bare eyes can kill us when it infects us. Please stay safe….stay at home, be aware of the danger of separatism, terrorism, and Covid-19.
