Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Papua Bangkit Main Stadium has changed its name to Lukas Enembe Stadium. The change of name was inaugurated by the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe in Jayapura, today, Friday (23/10/2020).
Based on information from the Papua Provincial Government, the event also inaugurated nine venues for PON XX in 2021, changing the name of Sentani Airport and launching data on Indigenous Papuans.
According to the Papua Provincial Government, changing the name of the Papua Bangkit Main Stadium to Lukas Enembe Stadium has long been proposed by legislative members, because the objective is to appreciate the success of the governor in bringing PON to Cendrawasih State.
The construction of the stadium itself is taken from the Regional Budget (APBD) which is worth up to IDR 1.3 trillion. The stadium capacity reaches 40,263 spectators.
The nine venues that were inaugurated for the XX National Sports Week in 2021 are as follows:
- Kampung Harapan Indoor Shooting Range changed its name to Papua Bangkit Indoor Shooting Range.
- The Air Force Outdoor shooting range became the Silas Papare shooting range.
- GOR STT Gidi becomes the STT Gidi Papua Sports Building.
- Sofball & Auri Baseball Fields become Marthen Indey Baseball Field & Manuhua Sofball Field.
- Softball & Baseball Field Uncen became August Kafiar’s Baseball & Softball Field.
- Koya Koso Volleyball Sports Center becomes Waaja Nene Kapoka Volleyball Club.
- Jayapura Mayor Tennis Court becomes Wondalambu Tennis Court.
- The Timika Futsal Gym becomes the Timika Futsal Gym.
- Papua Main Stadium Bangkit into Lukas Enembe Stadium.
Apart from the nine venues, there were three other inaugurations, namely Terminal Type B Waena Jayapura City, and the launch of Data on Indigenous Papuans.

The undisputed vote of about 1,025 representative tribal leaders has chosen to join Indonesia.
The United Nations endorsed the result of the plebiscite and the world recognized West Papua as part Indonesia.
West Papuan people have elected the leaders of Papua and West Papua provinces.
The election in West Papua has strengthened the legality of the region as a province of Indonesia.
